Things have been nuts around here for a while...Dan coming home from Afghanistan, Danny graduating High School, and a small vacation to Branson...so let me apologize for the huge gap in posts!!!!
When I found out Dan wanted to go to Branson for vacation, I immediately googled Gluten Free in Branson, Mo., I also used my FAVORITE...urbanspoon - http://www.urbanspoon.com/n/98/10601/Branson-restaurants
Of all the restaurants that were listed, we only visited one: Cantina Laredo, the food was EXCELLENT!!!! The manager informed me that all of the tortilla chips are fried in a dedicated fryer, and the only GF salsa is the mild.
I had the beef brisket soft tacos (3 of them) with black beans and Spanish rice, and table side guacamole as an appetizer - so much food, I had to share!!!! I highly recommend.
As we were exploring Branson, we found another restaurant called Starvin Marvin's,( not on the GF restaurant list) and they had an all-u-can-eat seafood buffet. My husband just couldn't resist. Dan is very sensitive, supportive and knowledgeable when it comes to my Celiac Disease, and GF diet, so he called the manager.
The manager assured us there were multiple boiled/steamed seafood items I could eat, as well as some vegetables. When we arrived, the waitress brought out labels from all kinds of food. What I ended up eating was steamed potatoes with onions and peppers, a salad with ranch dressing, and boiled crab legs. The crab legs were boiled in an oil called Crab Boil, but they offered to boil mine separately. The ranch dressing was a dry mix, combined with mayo. I read all labels, and deemed these foods all GF, and safe for my consumption.
( When eating at a restaurant that doesn't offer a GF menu, do so at your own risk, make sure you're well informed on label reading, and ask to see all labels of anything you're going to eat.)
The food was AMAZING.... and I didn't get sick one time on this trip. Yhea!!!!
